IPL 2021 Qualifier 1: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will return to a familiar territory when they take on Delhi Capitals (DC) in Qualifier 1 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season in Dubai.
The top two ranked teams as per the points table, DC and CSK will leave no stone unturned in a bid to reach the final of the tournament. MS Dhoni will look to use all of his experience of playing playoff matches in previous editions while Rishabh Pant could have his task cut out with the pressure of delivering after last year’s runners-up finish.
For CSK, Suresh Raina could make a comeback and add a tremendous amount of experience to the side.
Faf du Plessis (CSK) vs Kagiso Rabada (DC)
On the rare occasions that the two South Africans clashed, Rabada was able to fire Du Plessis on several occasions. The duo will meet at the beginning of the CSK rounds and this battle could indicate things to come.
Ruturaj Gaikwad (CSK) vs. Anrich Nortje (DC)
Another battle early in the CSK innings that could help shape things for the rest of the game. Gaikwad and Nortje have not met multiple times, but given their current form, both will be key factors in this clash.
Ravichandran Ashwin vs Axar Patel (DC)
How Moeen Ali, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni, or others in the CSK middle order negotiate the twist in the intermissions will be crucial in deciding which direction this game leans in.
Shikhar Dhawan (DC) vs. Josh Hazlewood (CSK)
The two will face off at the start of the DC rounds. Dhawan has had a good season at this IPL, while Hazlewood is one of the biggest names on the CSK bowling team. They haven’t clashed often in recent years.
Rishabh Pants (DC) vs. Dwayne Bravo (CSK)
The duo have clashed multiple times, with neither of them having a particularly striking track record with each other. They could meet in the middle or death of the DC tickets and this battle could have a huge impact on the fate of the match.
